It's literally been months since I submitted my work to literary agents, even though I desperately need money and could really benefit from getting commercially published. I finally was able to muster the will to do that today, and will continue to do so every day with one story or novel or another. It's time I got commercially published. I don't know what kept me from doing this for all that time -- call it "getting published block" (maybe fear of being rejected nor whatever, but it seems to have had its own will of iron) -- but finally mustered the will to do it today, even though it's the Sabbath. But at least today, the Moon is waxing, will not become void of course until tomorrow, and is in Taurus, all those conditions good omens. Please, any of you who can, wish me luck. I REALLY need it now!

Put it up on Amazon as an ebook.

I'm not sure how to go about it, especially when it comes to providing a cover. I'm not all that talented an artist. Any ideas as to how to go about that?

I hire an artist for my covers, which costs me about $400. Of course there are places making pre-made covers for about $40, but unless you want your cover to be something particularly fancy, it's not terribly hard to make a cover. I used to make my own when I first started out, mostly you can just look at the covers of the books like yours and do something similar.

As for creating an ebook, it's not that terribly difficult, the Smashwords Style guide (which is free) is a pretty good instruction on what to do, and there are a lot of other online guides out there on how to do it as well.

Amazon is about the best place to do business, and there is the kindleboards.com as another good place for resources. All you really need is your book in a good format (which the style guide will tell you how to do) and a file in one of the correct formats to upload (I do docx these days myself) there is a free tool called Calibre that will allow you to convert files from almost any format to one of the acceptable ones for upload.

Amazon's system is called kdp for Kindle Direct Publishing. I think the website is kdp.amazon.com just be sure to read everything in the legal agreement when you sign up with any of the ebook sellers. Most of them are pretty clear and easy to understand.

Happy Birthday, good luck with the publishing inquiry, and I would concur with the ebook recommendation.

I read your letter to Dolan; it was interesting to see where you agreed and disagreed. Hopefully something good will come of that as well.

Best wishes!
