Grow a pair, idiots!

Sony Hackers Make New Demands… This Is What Happens When You Negotiate With Terrorists - Freedom Outpost

One of the few cases in which I have agreed completely with Obama, whose take on the situation does NOT favor SONY's handling of it.

SONY and its associates are simply a bunch of pussies who are too cowardly to stand up to a bunch of kindergarten bullies who couldn't fight their way out of a wet Kleenex. Never EVER cave to terrorists' or extortionists' demands. NEVER say "Yes" to blackmailers. If you do, for the rest of your life you will be vulnerable to their demands. And the likelihood is that if you do stand up to them, there ain't much they can do to you or your loved ones or anyone or anything else you care about. And when it comes to THIS bunch, the harm they intend to do to you will amount to them dropping a bomb with a lit fuse into their own car and blowing themselves to kingdom come, given the sheer incompetence so often demonstrated by the North Korean government.

What will happen if we say NO to such extortionate attempts? Well, North Korea has a track record of not being able to do harm to their own miserable subjects, though very much able at making themselves look like fools when they demonstrate their "powerful weapons" (remember the missile they shot off that arced over shortly after launch, ending up going into the drink near the launchpad?). What would China, their protector, do to us for it? Nothing -- you don't start World War 3 or wreck a great nation by calling in all its debts to you, as the former would destroy the whole world, including you, and the latter would end up wrecking that nation's economy and pulling in the rest of the world after it. Like, nothing except maybe a minor nuisance here and there.

C'mon, people, grow a pair and quit negotiating with jerks like these.

SONY went to Obama, who left them hanging. SONY doesn't want to take on the liability of theaters being attacked, and believe that North Korea is crazy enough to do it.

If Obama and the US had stepped in, maybe they would have pulled it, but a Corporation is not going to go this on its own. Also, Japan is trying very hard to rehabilitate its image with the two Korea's, and SONY is a Japanese company. So again, more reason to just back down and give in, in order to protect the people who go to see their movies.

I can't really blame SONY at this point, they've been cut off and left to fend for themselves.

Actually, Sony said that the theaters didn't want to show the film, so Sony did not release it to them.

As far as I know, only one chain rejected it. Others were still willing, but SONY pulled it anyway.

Three others followed suit.

Ben Stein had a very interesting commentary on the entire thing, and he didn't blame SONY at all. Some of the reasons for which I mentioned above.

Personally, when I found out that the President had turned his back on SONY and left them hanging, I stopped blaming SONY.

Yeah. As usual, Obama told others what to do, and gave them no way to do it. But SONY came through with flying colorshttp://polaris93.livejournal.com/3687214.html

Now OTOH, Paramount went full coward by refusing to let one theater in Texas run Team America.

I remember something about that. Fortunately, several theaters here in Seattle ran it. I got to see it on the Silver Screen, and it was funny as hell. ". . . RON-ry. . ." ;-)

That's true, but they found a way around it: http://polaris93.livejournal.com/3687214.html
