I feel as if I'd been run over by a truck

This afternoon, when I was waiting for a bus at the intersection of South Weller Street and 12th Avenue South here in Seattle, three gunshots went off maybe 40 feet north of me. I wasn't hurt, but it did shake me up.

Which was nothing compared to what was waiting for me when I got home. My phone has Caller ID, and it said a close friend had called me earlier. So I called him, and he told me that earlier in the day his wife suddenly collapsed and died. He sounded as if a mountain had fallen on him, and, listening to him, I felt like that, too.

He should come out of it okay. He's about ten years younger than I am. I told him I'd be here for him if he needed to talk with me, which I will be. G-d have mercy on us both.

So glad you weren't hurt and so sorry about your friend's loss. He does have a good friend in you, and that is a wonderful and important thing.

Hang in there!

We should talk again by the end of the year sometime. You are in my thoughts.

Thank you for being there for me, Max. I'm better than I was yesterday, though I'm still feeling somewhat overwhelmed. So it gets better.

One thing, though: right up until now, I hadn't realized that Rich called me on the day that the Sun entered Scorpio! At that time, the transiting Sun made an exact quincunx (150-degree angle) to my natal Sun. That aspect is associated with the 8th House, which, among other things, has to do with death, transformation, transcendence, resurrection, death and reincarnation, goods of the dead, and so on and on. Once again, astrology proves its worth.

Yes, astrology shows its accuracy!

I need a reading one day.

Do you still do them? Not sure you remember my info. I may be able to send along some funds for it too.

I still do astrology and will do so as long as I haven't become non compos mentis. :-) If you'd like me to do your chart, email uour time, place, and date of birth to me; if you want to pay something for it, pay me via PayPal. If you can't afford to pay, that's all right, too. I can always use the practice. :-) ). Hope you are doing well, love always, Yael

First of all, I'm back. You can read what happened to me here, in case you're interested.

Secondly, I'm glad that you are all right. I had to take a major detour Thursday night to get around the scene of the shooting by the airport - glad I wasn't there when it went down!

Third, my sister-in-law recently passed, and I'm watching, and trying to help, my brother cope with that (they were married for 42 years). You are a good friend to offer your support to your friend.

Wow! You've really been through the mill! I'm glad you can stay are your brother's place. I'm not sure what area yo live in but here in Seattle we have a lot of low-income apartment buildings for families, disabled people 55 and over, and anyone 62 or over. If your area also has Housing Authority, you might check the local HA agency and get put on a list to get Housing Authority assistance with rent, And there are agencies that give relief on utility bills each winter and spring.

Anything I can do to help out, please let me know. May at least some of your health and strength return. Good to here from you! <3

I'm not too far south of you, as I am now in Burien (if you still live in the same area). I really didn't have a choice as to where I moved as I simply didn't have the time to wait for an opening through any of the various HA's in the area. It came down to moving in with my brother, or become homeless. Being here is really a blessing as it will allow me to pay off all of my sundry medical, and other bills, Plus, I'm able to keep an eye on my brother (he's had 2 heart attacks), and he can keep an eye on me.

I'm glad to be back. I've missed everyone. ;)

I'm currently living in the North End of Seattle, at 747 N 135th St, Apt 644 (actually, we're on Linden, a little way up from the intersection of N 130th St with Linden Ave N, on the west side of Linden -- the property goes right down to Bitter Lake's eastern shore; Boeing used to have a plant on this property, and wrassled the "747" address out of the post office someho). If you want to visit, the building I live in is Four Freedoms House." The bus -- Bus 345 from Northgate -- stops right in front of it. If you'd like my phone number, send me an email at polaris93@aol.com. :-)

No, call first. I have been able to do very little with my email for the last month, and currently have 4,236 emails I haven't got to. So I'd probably miss it unless I knew to look for it. Instead, call me at (206)365-9849 -- that's my home phone. Looking forward to meeting you! :-)

BTW, I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving. :-)

Sorry for the delay in answering this. My e-mail client decided that your reply was spam, and I didn't see it until today. *grumbles about stupid e-mail client*

The next time I'm up in your neck of the woods, I'll call to give you a heads up, instead of shooting you an e-mail. 4,236? Yikes!

Yes, I did have a good Thanksgiving - thank you for asking. I hope yours was enjoyable as well. ;)

Great. I'm looking forward to meeting you. If you need directions, or which bus(es) to take, let me know. :-)

Yes, the damned email clients make phone robots look like geniuses. :-P

Hope this Christmas/Hanukkah season is a good one for you. You take care, and don't catch cold -- this winter is going to be COLD!

SOrry to hear about that? How are you doing lately?

I'm a lot better than I was. They discovered that the cause of so many of my aches and pains was spinal stenosis -- a narrowing of the spinal channel because of which the nerves in there get irritated and even pinched. That sends signals to the brain that there is damage to the places in the body served by those nerves, even though there isn't. The result is pain that seems to be coming from them, but isn't. So I can apply my pain medication strategically instead of wholesale, knowing there's no real damage in therec, taking just enough medication to enable me to function. So I am less sleepy and less inclined to panic over the pain. :-)

BTW, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! May your year to come be filled with every blessing, and be full of happiness. :-D

Happy New Year
It doesn't look like you've updated in a while so I was wondering what happened, if you left like a lot of other people have.

THat's good that they found the cause of your problem and that you're living life better.

I'm barely ever on here anymore...

Re: Happy New Year
Oh, it's just that I have a Facebook account and I go there a little too often. Not enough time for LJ, though I'm thinking of blogging here more. :-)

I've just ordered something from a site called http://www.geniux.com that may help even more. If it works, I'll let y'all know about it as soon as possible.

Let's see if we can get LJ to get going again. :-D

Re: Happy New Year
I do Facebook a lot too because since the ap works well on my phone, it is much easier. Although I am not as open on facebook as I would be on LJ. There's so much I haven't said lately that maybe would be better if Iposted it on LJ. I certainly can't say some of these things on facebook because I'd get myself in trouble in one way or another. It's about things with my job situation and living situation. I'm not really happy with either for different reasons right now.

SO how is his geniux thing working and how does it work?

Re: Happy New Year
LJ really is the best way to go when it comes to touchy subjects. :-)

Geniux is supposed to improve balance, coordination, cognitive function, and a host of other central nervous system functions. It seems to be working in my case -- for the first time in months I have no trouble getting out of bed and walking across the room, whereas up until recently, when I tried to do that, I'd come close to falling on my face. That's a plus, right there. :-)
