"President Obama's top science adviser has toyed with extreme measures of population control, even suggesting in one book how to make it more publicly acceptable for the government to spike drinking water in order to sterilize people.
"John P. Holdren, named as Mr. Obama's science 'czar' earlier this year, described this in a book he wrote with Paul Ehrlich -- author of the 'Population Bomb,' which predicted masses would starve due to exploitation of resources through the 1980s -- about the world's rapidly increasing population. In the 1977 tome 'Ecoscience: Population, Resources, Environment,'Mr. Holdren and Mr. Ehrlich, in addition to Mr. Ehrlich's wife, Anne, considered various ways to keep growth in check. . . ." "Codex Sinaiticus, a manuscript of the Christian Bible written in the middle of the fourth century, contains the earliest complete copy of the Christian New Testament. The hand-written text is in Greek. The New Testament appears in the original vernacular language (koine) and the Old Testament in the version, known as the Septuagint, that was adopted by early Greek-speaking Christians. In the Codex, the text of both the Septuagint and the New Testament has been heavily annotated by a series of early correctors.
"The significance of Codex Sinaiticus for the reconstruction of the Christian Bible's original text, the history of the Bible and the history of Western book-making is immense."
The historical value of this work is immense, especially for an understanding of the influence of Christianity on Western civilization. The website is located at http://www.codexsinaiticus.org/en/

I mean, do they have to poke their big fat noses into everybody else's business? That intrusiveness is just like what Obama wants to push on us: Big Brother is watching you! If you aren't depressed, they try to depress you with this sort of intrusion on your privacy and peace of mind. As far as they're concerned, you can't win. You can't even break even. And you can't get out of the game.
However, those are Finagle's version of the Three Laws of Thermodynamics. Will Eris ever give them the business for breaking into Her turf!

On the other hand, as a friend of mine just pointed out in an email to me in response to my sending him the above link,
"Check out http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thr ead278146/pg1
before deciding about the F-22. Yea, they are expensive, but a kill ratio in the Red Flag exercise of 244 to 2 looks like it might be worth it.
"I've heard one of the F16 pilots who was in 2009 Red Flag talk. He told of being in a low level dogfight with an F22, in behind, and ready to deliver the coup-de-gras when his computer said 'OK genius, there's nothing out there to shoot at.'
"No computer lock, no kill."
So maybe the F-22 is worth it after all.

Imagine what it might be like to live on a world orbiting a star in such a hypercompact object.
Alternatively, imagine people originally from Earth or an Earth colony discovering such a world. What would that world be like? What would the view from it be like, as far as its night sky and telescopes went?

No matter which side of the climate debate you're on, this is an example of hypocrisy at its nastiest. Bono is primordially arrogant and likely just as ignorant.

"For those of us fighting for free speech on American airwaves, this is a major setback. The Broadcaster Freedom Amendment sponsored by Congressmen Greg Walden of Oregon and Mike Pence of Indiana has been defeated. The amendment would have prevented any form of the Fairness Doctrine from returning, including the new Fairness Doctrine disguised in localism rules and programming advisory boards for radio stations. . . ."
